However, spending your dollars is a powerful tool to demand the kind of society you want. Here at Fair Anita, we believe that by supporting ethical brands, we can direct funds to where it matters while involving shoppers and customers in the process!

As part of our #changemakingfashion challenge, we urge you to be inspired to support ethical brands to break the norms of the fashion industry. Here are our favorites:

Global Mamas

This brand follows a fair trade business model working with women in Ghana. They utilize traditional batik techniques to create beautiful and colorful garments that are perfect for spring + summer! And they make fantastic home goods to brighten up your kitchen, bathroom, or living room.

Maggie’s Organics

This brand uses organically grown cotton and wool from small farms in the U.S., Argentina, Peru, Tanzania, and India made by skilled workers treated with dignity and respect. Their leggings are so comfy - plus they have pockets!

Organic Basics

This brand uses super sustainable fabrics that care for our environment and only partner with meticulous factories about their impact. You will find comfortable basics that you won’t ever want to take off!

People Tree

A pioneer in sustainable Fair Trade fashion, which started in 1991. Their core mission has stayed the same over the past three decades since award-winning social entrepreneur Safia Minney founded the company. Every product is made to the highest ethical and environmental standards from start to finish.

Harvest & Mill

This brand was born out of a need for locally sewn and USA-grown organic clothing. Believing that there is a better way to make clothing, Harvest & Mill supports USA organic cotton farmers, American heritage mills, and the local sewing community to rebuild supply chains based on ecological and ethical principles.

Women’s Peace Collection

They are guided by fair trade principles, compassionate commerce, and a commitment to invest in women through sustainable enterprise. They work with talented and creative artisans in over 12 countries across the globe.

WellJourn

A woman-owned business, WellJourn believes in conscious consumerism and that every person should feel good about what they buy. All products from their shop are artisan produced and sourced from fair trade certified members that guarantee fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable materials.

Fair Trade Winds

A verified member of the Fair Trade Federation, their products are fairly traded and handmade. They work with 150 artisan organizations in 57 countries worldwide, from small to community to thousands spread out over entire countries.

Mata Traders

Their mission is to “fashion a better world” by creating designs that celebrate a woman’s originality and empower her to use her dollar for change. They merge vibrant styles with fair trade practices to impact global poverty, bringing fair wages to artisan in India and Nepal.

Alice + Whittles

This brand develops a collection of footwear that makes use of sustainable materials. These materials tread lightly on the planet and respect by using natural fair trade rubber, reclaimed ocean plastics, recycled PET, and vegan water-based glue.
